Smithsonian Freer Gallery

Washington, D.C.

Serious Energy created a condensation-free attic using SeriousGlass with suspended film which gave the gallery a sloped glazing advantage.

Traditionally, horizontal convective heat transfer in vertical insulating glass plays a relatively minor role due to the long up and down path of circulating gas molecules. As a glazing unit approaches horizontal, convective heat transfer increases as the up and down molecular loop becomes shorter. SeriousGlass blocks the up and down gas-molecule path to dramatically reduce convection in sloped glazing units and minimizes insulating loss.
