Objective: Owners Rebecca Guymon and Joe Turner enlisted the expertise of Brach Design and Fisher Custom Buildiers to create the first certified Passive House in Utah and in the western United States. In keeping with the design standards of the Passive House Institute US, the Breezeway house aims to consume only 10% of the electricity that an existing single-family home would use. Brach Design used the highest quality building materials as well as on site solar energy production to achieve dramatic energy savings in this state of the art green home.  To avoid compromises on comfort or aesthetics highly energy efficient windows were one of the keys in this project. Serious Solution: The SeriousWindows 925 Series allows the Breezeway House to optimize its insulation and tuning. With high quality fiberglass frames, double pane glazing and suspended film, and multi-seal weatherstripping design, the units in the Breezeway house provide a unit U-factor of 0.18.  The Breezeway House takes full advantage of the 925 Series' complete package of tuning and glazing options by optimizing the performance of its large, south facing windows for daylight and warmth. 

Rebecca's favorite things about the windows: they are so well tuned that the house is well lit using only natural light, even in overcast weather, and without getting too warm or too cold, and the fiber glass frames are warm to the touch making her ultra-modern home comfortable and cozy.  Read more on her blog.
